The ATD APTD® (Associate Professional in Talent Development) is the entry-level professional certification from the Association for Talent Development the world’s largest professional organisation for talent development practitioners. It validates knowledge across the core domains of the ATD Capability Model and is recognised by employers in over 100 countries.
Skills Plus supports APTD® preparation with structured study programmes, practice resources, and expert guidance tailored to the GCC professional context.
Those with 2–5 years of experience in L&D, training, or talent development roles who want a globally recognised professional credential.
HR practitioners transitioning into a dedicated learning and development specialist who want professional validation of their new expertise.
Those in training coordination or facilitation roles who want to advance their career with a credible, internationally recognised certification.
The Talent Development Capability Model defines the capabilities (knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors) for the talent development field. It answers the question, “What do talent development professionals need to know and do to be successful?” The model is the foundation for APTD certification, with the exam blueprint using a subset of the foundational knowledge deemed appropriate for a talent development professional at the three-year mark in their career.

To be eligible for the APTD program, candidates must meet all criteria for ONE of the pathways below:
Work Experience- 3 years of experience in talent development + Professional Development- 28 hours of qualified activities covering talent development topics within the last three years (ATD’s preparation courses for the APTD can be reported for a total of 20 hours of professional development eligibility).
Work Experience- 3 years of experience in talent development + ATD Masters Designation completed within the past 3 years.

The APTD focuses on a subset of capabilities from the Talent Development Capability Model and how to use that knowledge in talent development. It covers all three domains:
At least 2 years of relevant TD experience and a minimum of 1,000 hours worked in the field. Full eligibility criteria are on the ATD website.
110 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 2.5 hours. Delivered online or at a Pearson VUE testing centre.
Structured study programmes, practice exams, tutor support, and study groups to help you prepare effectively.
The APTD® is valid for 3 years and renewed through continuing education credits and professional development activities.
