01The spine of the leadership offer
Six programmes covering the whole management career, plus the two that develop the coaches.
Most leadership development in this market is bespoke, unaccredited and impossible to compare between one provider and the next. CMI qualifications carry a level, a published standard and external moderation, which is what allows a government entity to state that its managers are qualified rather than trained.
Two of the six are coaching qualifications. That is deliberate. An organisation that wants leadership development to continue after we leave needs its own accredited coaches, and Levels 5 and 7 are how they get them.
02The programmes
CMI qualifications are offered in Award, Certificate and Diploma sizes at most levels. The size determines the number of units and the study time; the level determines the standard. We recommend the size once we understand what the learner needs to be able to do afterwards.
03What completion opens
Chartered Manager
CMI qualifications at Level 5 and above form part of the recognised route towards Chartered Manager status, applied for through the institute with the required managerial experience.
Institute membership
Study includes CMI membership for the duration, with access to the institute's management library, templates and career resources.
A credential that transfers
The qualification belongs to the individual, not the employer. For national talent in particular, that portability is a significant part of why cohorts complete.
